Guided Birdwatching in West Sussex and Hampshire

Contact: baggaleyhugh@gmail.com

I run guided birdwatching events where I teach people all about birds, from identification to ecology and biology.

The events are arranged in a way to provide an enjoyable, relaxed environment where we can engage with the natural world. Over the years we have built up a friendly community with many regular attendees, and a steady stream of new people attending the events.

I am based in West Sussex, an area with fantastic coastal and woodland habitats.

I have had a keen interest in wildlife and sciences my whole life. I studied Biochemistry at University College London (UCL) and graduated in 2017. Alongside my university studies I started doing bird surveys and guided walks for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). I now do bird surveys for the RSPB, British Trust for Ornithology (BTO), Chichester Harbour Conservancy and Chichester District Council. I also lead some of the Chichester Harbour Conservancy birdwatching solar boat tours.

In 2018 I was presented with the Eileen Savill award from the Manhood Wildlife and Heritage Group, for contributions to the conservation and celebration of the wildlife of the Manhood Peninsula.

I developed, ran and presented the 'Birdwatching for Beginners' courses at RSPB Pagham Harbour. These courses highlighted to me how much I enjoyed teaching others about wildlife, and provided the catalyst for developing my own events.

If you would like to join me to learn about birds please see my Events page or email me at baggaleyhugh@gmail.com
